Coffee Information
Coffee Information
This coffee is a beautiful washed coffee from the Tekangu Farmers Cooperative Society near the town of Karatina in Nyeri, Kenya. The word 'Tegu' translates to mean 'low place', that is reflective of the position between Mount Kenya in the NE and the Aberdare Range in the W, amongst which it sits. This coffee is collected through three centralised collection points, serving farms located up to around 6km from the mill. Once the coffee cherries are sorted to remove both the over-ripe and under-ripe cherries, the coffee undergoes an overnight dry fermentation, followed by washing and a second fermentation under water. It is then washed again, soaked in clean water, and finally moved to raised beds on the gentle slopes outside the mill to dry. This process loans much of the sweet but treacle-y and nutty taste to the coffee profile, allowing it to shine as a beautifully, full bodied Kenya washed.

Excellent as a v60 - hot or ice !! We recommend making a v60 switch with this coffee. 16g in, with a course grind with 250g water at 97c. When making the switch, set a timer for 3 minutes and pour the water and release after the 3 minute mark.
